Massage Treatments
I offer holistic or 'Swedish' full-body massage, it can be performed using either a basic carrier, such as sweet almond or peach kernel oil, and to this I can add essential aromatherapy oils which are safe for either pre-natal or post-partum use, and also depending on what may be suitable for you as an individual.
If you do not want essential oils added then the carrier oils are excellent to use alone, and you will still benefit from a wonderful relaxing massage. Or if oil is something you would prefer not to have at all, then i can use talcum powder as a traditional medium of Swedish style massage.
Individual Massage Therapy Sessions -
I can offer pregnancy and postnatal massage sessions in your home, at a time to suit you, either as part of my doula service, or completely independent.
Travel expenses will be charged at £0.42p per mile from my home in Rugby, Warwickshire
Pre-Natal Massage Treatment:
During pregnancy a woman goes through drastic changes, both physically and emotionally. Massage therapy can be of enormous benefit to both mother and unborn child. Pre-natal massage can help alleviate some of the physical discomforts of pregnancy caused initially by hormone changes, and later by carrying the weight of the growing babe.
Massage aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems’ which supports blood flow to the uterus and reduces fatigue in the mother-to-be. It also stimulates the endocrine system which helps to stabilise hormone levels.
Pre-Natal massage focuses on nurturing the expectant mother, giving her emotional support through warm, loving touches using professional massage techniques. The unborn infant will also benefit from his mother being in a state of perfect relaxation, as it is widely believed that unborn babies can be affected by their mothers stress levels.
It is considered that a relaxed woman will have a happier, healthier pregnancy. Massage therapy can be a perfect medium to supply physical and emotional support to help a mother-to-be achieve this state of wellbeing.
Some medical conditions prevent pre-natal massage being an option for some women, these can include: women who may be at risk of pre-term labour, blood clots or blood clotting disorders and diabetes.
Please contact me if you need more information, it may still be possible for you to receive massage therapies with written consent from your G.P.
Benefits of massage in pregnancy:
Post-Partum Massage:
Focuses on the new mother to help her body to recover from pregnancy and childbirth. Massage therapy sessions now will help to re-align her body’s weight to its natural distribution, and relieve muscle tension and joint aches and pains as her body adjusts to its non-pregnant state.
Recovery rates can be encouraged by bringing relief to sore muscles and help the new mother to relax after taking on her new role of carrying and caring for her new born baby.
For women who suffer from post-partum blues this is a wonderful way to receive psychological support to help revive a balanced emotional state so she can enjoy her new role of mother.
